Our History & What We Stand For

Wilcox Nursery & Landscape was founded as a family business in 1947. We originally operated as Wilcox Brothers Tropical Acres and Groves, then Wilcox Brothers Nursery & Groves, before becoming Wilcox Nursery & Landscape. Today we remain proudly rooted in Largo and are one of Pinellas County’s longest-standing nursery and landscape businesses.

For over 75 years, this land has been home to growers, educators, and families who share a belief in the power of Florida native plants. What started as a tropical grove has grown into one of the region’s most trusted native plant nurseries — and a full-service landscape design and installation company rooted in the same values we’ve held since the beginning.

Wilcox Nursery

Established 1947

When the Wilcox brothers established the original grove on this Largo property, they planted more than trees, they planted a legacy. Three generations later, Wilcox Nursery & Landscape is still family-owned, still on the same land, and still focused on the same simple idea: that the right plants, in the right place, make everything better.

  • One of Pinellas County’s oldest continuously operating businesses
  • Locally owned and operated — no franchises, no corporate ownership
  • The same family commitment since day one
  • Deep roots in the community we’ve served for over 75 years

Florida Native Expertise

Every member of our team shares a passion for Florida native plants and the role they play in creating healthier, more resilient landscapes. From our nursery staff and horticultural experts to our designers and installation teams, we bring together a wide range of experience and specialties with a common goal: helping homeowners make informed choices that benefit both their property and the environment.

We believe beautiful landscapes can also support wildlife, provide habitat for pollinators, conserve natural resources, and strengthen the connection between people and the Florida ecosystems that make our region unique. Through education, stewardship, and decades of hands-on experience, our team is committed to helping grow the native plant movement and creating a better future for Florida, one landscape at a time.

We’re not just based in Pinellas County, we’re part of it. Our customers are our neighbors. Our landscapes are in the yards, neighborhoods, and communities we drive through every day. That local connection shapes everything about how we do business.

  • Active members of FANN, the Florida Native Plant Society, and local conservation organizations
  • Proud participants in Pinellas County’s effort to restore Florida’s natural landscape

Dedicated to Our Customers

When you work with Wilcox Nursery & Landscape, you’re working with us, not a call center, not a franchise, not a corporate landscape crew. We have owned this property and our business for over 75 years, so we take accountability personally.

We built our reputation on doing right by our customers and our community. That means honest advice, plants that are right for your space, and landscapes that are built to last in Florida’s climate. If something isn’t right, we make it right. That’s not a policy, it’s just how we operate.
